FAQs
How do I get started?
Ensuring that what I offer matches your expectations and needs is very important to me.
Here’s how to get started and what to expect:
1. First Step: Send Your Enquiry
To get started, feel free to reach out via contact form or via email (info@crescentpsychologypractice.com.au). I will respond to your enquiry as soon as possible, typically within 2 business days.
If you have doubts about sending your enquiry, you may find these sections helpful:
2. Second Step: Pre-Session Form & Optional 15-min Intro Call
After receiving your email enquiry, I will send you a short “pre-session form” to help understand whether my service meets your needs, and for you to receive info. If needed, we may then arrange a brief phone call to follow up your request and your form. This process is complimentary and commitment-free. For more info on how your information will be handled, please visit the Privacy Policy.
3. Third Step: Book Your Initial Appointment
After submitting your form (and finalising your intro call, if applicable), we will be able to book your initial appointment.
What if I am not sure?
It is completely understandable to feel uncertain, it is actually quite common. Finding the right therapist is a personal process, and the quality of the therapeutic relationship plays an essential role in how effective therapy can be. Undertaking therapy is a meaningful commitment, and you are and will always be free to decide whether to begin, continue, pause, or stop at any time. If, for any reason, my services are not the best match, I will do my best to suggest alternative options.
Please note that the first few sessions can be very helpful in offering more clarity and supporting you in deciding what is best for you.
What can I expect from my first session?
Our initial session(s) will give us the opportunity to get to know each other, to better understand what brought you to therapy and to discuss what would be the most helpful ways to address your concerns.
We will discuss and explore in detail your concerns, therapy needs, goals and expectations, as well as your background and personal (hi)story. I will try my best to make you feel comfortable in the process, and I always welcome feedbacks. This will be an opportunity for you to get a sense of my style and to ask any questions.
I am a previous/returning client and I was seeing you at a different location, can I reach out? How do I get started?
Hi, I am glad you found your way here. Of course you can. If we’ve worked together before at a different location and you’d like to re-connect, please know that you’re welcome to reach out via contact form or via email at info@crescentpsychologypractice.com.au. Pending current availability, you can book a session directly.
What is your fee?
The standard fee for a 50-minute consultation is $230.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan and a valid referral letter from your GP you will be able to receive Medicare rebates, reducing the cost of sessions to $131.05 for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. For more information see: Medicare.
Do you bulk bill?
Unfortunately, I am not able to offer bulk billing. Psychology sessions under Medicare will attract out-of-pocket costs.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 business hours’ notice. This allows me to accommodate other clients and to adjust my schedule accordingly.
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 business hours’ notice are subject to a cancellation fee (full standard session fee). No shows will also attract a full cancellation fee. Please note that Medicare rebate is not allowed for late cancellation/missed appointments.
What is your availability and modality?
At this stage, Crescent Psychology Practice operates Monday-Thursday by appointment, between 8am – 5.30pm. For added flexibility, early-morning sessions may be available (e.g., starting at 7.30am – NSW time).
Sessions are conducted via Telehealth (video consultations only). To know more about Telehealth and access telehealth-specific FAQs, please see this page. Unfortunately, I am not able to offer in-person consultations at this stage. Phone consultations only are typically also not offered.
Do I need a referral?
No, having a referral is not a requirement.
However, if you would like to receive rebates under the Medicare Mental Health Care Plan – Better Access Initiative, then you should visit your GP prior to your first psychology session to complete a Mental Health Care Plan and receive a referral. To know more about this initiative, click here.
Should your GP require additional information on how to refer you to Crescent Psychology Practice, please direct them to the “For Referrers” page.
How can I contact you and what is your response time?
Please note that due to being a sole trader, e-mail correspondence is the primary and preferred method of contact.
Due to limited capacity, I may not be able to answer your phone call. In that event, please leave a voice message with your best contact number, or send a follow up email (preferred) and I will return your call as soon as possible, typically within 2 business days.
If you are contacting me via the contact form or email, I will do my best to respond to your enquiry within 2 business days.
Please make sure you check your “Spam Folder” if you haven’t heard from me from more than two days, or feel free to follow up your form submission by sending an email.
What if I need support prior to my session?
Please note that the e-mail/phone are not always manned and I am not able to provide emergency/crisis services.
If you require immediate support, please consider reaching out to your GP or contacting support lines at any time (see the resources page). For emergencies, please contact 000 immediately or attend an emergency department without delay.
