ONLINE ADULT ADHD ASSESSMENT IN AUSTRALIA

The purpose of this service is to determine whether your difficulties are consistent with ADHD diagnostic criteria, based on structured tools and clinical judgement.

• If you are seeking an assessment for the primary or sole purpose of getting a medication prescription, please reach out to a Psychiatrist. You can, however, provide the findings from our assessment to a Psychiatrist to confirm the diagnosis (if applicable) and to consider, in consultation with the doctor, whether the pharmacological intervention might be a suitable treatment for you.

• The assessment process does not guarantee a diagnosis of ADHD, and it is not designed to provide a comprehensive clinical evaluation of all possible conditions.

• The whole assessment process is delivered via telehealth.

Fees reflect the time required for interviews, psychometric assessment, data analysis and report writing. Step 2 fees will count towards the full assessment package, should you decide to proceed. Yes, after the initial intake call you can. The initial consultation (Stage 2) is aimed at exploring your difficulties, background, and to screen for ADHD symptoms. At the end of the initial consultation you may decide whether to continue with the full assessment or not. It is important to be aware that while the initial consultation and results at the questionnaires may suggest the possibility of ADHD, this does not guarantee the same outcome from the full assessment. And vice versa.

This assessment is conducted by a registered psychologist using structured diagnostic tools and clinical judgement. To answer this question, it is important to clarify the reason why you are seeking the assessment:

• If you feel that your primary purpose of undergoing the assessment is to access to medications, please discuss that with your GP and reach out to a Psychiatrist. You can, however, provide the findings from our assessment to a Psychiatrist to confirm the diagnosis (if applicable) and to later consider, in consultation with the doctor, whether the pharmacological intervention might be a suitable treatment for you.
  
• If you feel the need and curiosity to understand whether your challenges might be explained by ADHD, getting a full assessment might help. Our ADHD assessment process is designed to be both thorough and flexible. For this reason the first consultation (Step 2) is designed to be either a single consultation or as part of the overall process, giving you the flexibility to explore whether moving forward with the full assessment package is right for you. Importantly, there’s no obligation to proceed with the full package.
  
  This option has the benefit of empowering informed decisions, allowing you to have the chance to reflect whether to commit to the full assessment. It is however important to clarify that while the initial session might suggest symptoms consistent with ADHD, it does not guarantee an ADHD diagnosis outcome. Similarly, not identifying sufficient evidence of ADHD during the initial consultation does not automatically rule it out. It is natural to hope for clarity early in the process, however a definitive opinion can only be formed after a comprehensive review of all available data and after the full assessment.
  
• A comprehensive approach allows a more holistic understanding of difficulties. If you are seeking a brief or rapid assessment process, this might not be the best service for you. Please note, however, that the purpose of this service is to ascertain whether you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD, and not to assess for other conditions or to provide a full clinical diagnostic assessment.

In addition to consultations with you and your informants, the assessment process includes several hours dedicated to data analysis and report writing. Timeframes may vary depending on many factors such as the volume, validity, and accuracy of the information collected, how promptly it is provided, and so on.

As an indication, for straightforward cases, reports are typically delivered within approximately 4 weeks following the completion of data collection.

Providing supporting documents may be beneficial and helpful, particularly:

• Previous Assessments reports;
• School/pre-school reports from your early years (until age of 12);
• Relevant medical records.

If you have additional supporting documents that you feel might be relevant, please discuss that with your psychologist prior to sending them through.

In general, reviewing documents will be part of your package. However, if the amount of documents and their complexity exceeds the typical case, the review may incur additional fees. If that is the case the psychologist will discuss that with you.

A comprehensive report is included in the assessment package. If, in addition to the comprehensive report, you require a short confirmation letter (one page), this can be agreed and provided after the conclusion of the assessment process. Depending on what is required, the letter may incur additional fees charged at the standard hourly rate of $230.

If the assessment concludes that ADHD criteria are not met, we will discuss the findings in detail together and consider alternative explanations for your difficulties. Many adults find the formulation process helpful regardless, even when ADHD is not the final diagnosis.

Appointments cancelled with less than 3 business days notice from the scheduled time will incur a non-refundable cancellation fee (standard full session fee of $230).
