Medicare Mental Health Care Plan – Better Access to Mental Health care initiative

Medicare psychology rebates help reducing the cost of therapy. I am a registered Medicare provider which means you will be able to use your Mental Health Care Plan for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year and receive a rebate. You can read more about the Better Access to Mental Health care initiative here.

The current Medicare benefit (as of July 2025) is $98.95 per standard session (50 min). Please note that psychology sessions under Medicare will attract an out-of-pocket expense of $131.05, as I am unfortunately unable to Bulk Bill.

In order to be eligible and to start receiving rebates, you will need a valid referral letter from your GP in addition to a current Mental Health Care Plan. You can find referral requirements here or please feel free to contact me if you need assistance or have any questions or concerns.

Private Health Insurance

Some insurance providers may cover part of your psychology sessions. Please contact your insurer to know more about this option and to find out whether psychology sessions are covered in your premium and what are the requirements. Out-of-pocket costs may apply, depending on your policy. Please note that Medicare rebates are not claimable whilst using your private health insurance.

NDIS – Capacity Building

I welcome NDIS participants under “Capacity Building – Daily Living: Psychology”, whether self-managed or plan-managed. Unfortunately, I cannot assist NDIA-managed participants.
